Pretty much what the title says..

I've heard that some of the older lenses (even the good ones) don't perform too well when paired with a cropped sensor cramed full of pixels?

The 300mm f4 IS seems to be just what I need at the moment but I don't want to be disappointed! so if anyone is using this combo I'd like to hear your feedback!

Cheers!

I have used this combo for over a year and can't fault the 300mm f/4.0 IS lens, its sharp, focus is quick and light enough to carry around all day, the only thing it lacks is reach, with a 1.4x mk iii converter the auto focus is slower and I'd recommend using the lens on its own, I am trading my lens in for the new sigma 150-600mm zoom but I might get another 300mm lens at a later date for close wildlife stuff like dragonflies etcmute profile.jpg Here is a shot from a recent trip out.

What are you getting for trading in on your 300 F4 IS price wise?

I've got the 300F4IS and used it on my 40D and daughters 450D, a friend has also used it on his 60D and it's a belter of a lens.

I've also used a canon 1.4TC mkIII with it and I found it worked very well and was very pleased with the results :)
