I need to find out if they sell the Samyang 8mm fish eye lens over there as my mum is flying out to NY tomorrow.

Anyone know or anyway of finding out?

They are run by orthodox jews, so will be closed for the sabbath on Saturday.
Open again on Sunday 10-6pm, Mon-Thurs 9.00-7pm.

Get her to take a printout of the product page, hand to sales assistant,
"Hello, I'd like one of these please." job done!

They are really knowledgeable & friendly, they'll help your mum with any enquiries.

B&H will help you out. Tell her to go upstairs and get in the queue for an assistant over on the right hand side (there are 50+ assistant desks!) - tell them what you want, you'll be presented with a receipt. Go downstairs and pay (note there are different kiosks for card and cash), then move on to the pick up. Its a really efficient system!

Tax in NY is 8.8% if I remember correctly.

Tell her to look around for a small card for B&H or in one of the freebie guidebooks in the hotel lobby, it will entitle you to a free gift ($50 dollar spend or over) - I got a small rucksack, nothing amazing but could come in handy!

To get there walk south from Times Square on Broadway, when you get to Macys (its kinda hard to miss) turn right down 34th, walk to 9th Ave, B&H are on the opposite side of the road on the corner of 34th & 9th - look for the green window shades.

The other place is Adorama, I didn't go there, but they are at:
Adorama Store, 42 West 18th Street, New York City, NY 10011.

Thats quite a way downtown between 5th & 6th Ave.

Wow thanks, she's staying in Rooservelt and I don't think it's that far from 9th street, how much is sales tax?

What's the final amount? :)

Sorry few more questions, she's a bit nervous lol.

What would you guys do?

Buy in NY, she has money and she exchanged it years ago when the exchange rate was even better then 2:1 so it would be a bit less then half, but lets say half anyway.

More money, you know you'll definitely get the item safely, you get a 3 year warranty which you can use.

Or get from NY. Less money, no warranty but a free gift.

If its $289 + 8.8% thats $314. Half it because of our exchange rate thats now £157.

Is it worth not having a warranty and spending less or would you take the one from eBay?

Ok, realised what you meant about exchange rate after I posted.

B&H do have some bargains though. What else do you want :)
 
Hmm Im getting into video. Anything youd recommend for an amateur videographer?
