i am looking at the tamron 17-50, i would like the 5 year warranty that comes with it but wonder if the ones amazon sell would be UK sourced (intro2020 import and distribute them, they also deal with the extended warranty) so i can get the 5 year warranty.

this is direct from amazon and not one of there market place sellers.

it has the old "may take an additional 2 days to ship" so i do wonder where its coming from.

I got mine for my Canon 7D from Amazon directly. No idea where it comes from but it was delivered fairly sharpish (I didn't pay for any additional speed), it works absolutely fine, the pictures are brilliant from it and it's still in one piece.

That's all that matters as far as I'm concerned. Not too fussed about a 5 year warranty because if it breaks in 3 years I'll just fork out for a new one (hardly breaking the bank, is it? :p) or step up to the Canon 17-55 f2.8.

nearly bid (and would have won with the amount i was going to spend) on a sony 16-80z

then looked at his other items, a a700 with broken flash mount, a prime lens with damaged mount and the 16-80 with the rubber ring not sat where it should be.. glad i ran from that one! he must have bene dropping his kit or kicking the camera bag about!!!

Haha, that would have been like russian roulette, only with expensive camera gear :cuckoo:

You'll love the tamron, it's just so sharp! Even wide open it's impressive. Bokeh at f2.8 is pleasant at 50mm, just enough to make things interesting :)
 
yes it does seem to be the lens of choice :)

who knows what will happen with the 16-80 pricing, if it drops low enough i will bag a new one of those as well!
 
I got my Sigma 70-200 f/2.8 HSM II from amazon direct and when I contacted sigma with the serial number they honoured the three year extended warranty so I'm sure the Tamrons they sell are fine.

tamron said it depends if its sourced from UK or Germany (amazon buy from both), it into2020 imported it they will warranty it, if not i guess i have to try with germany :f
 
its arrived, got a eu 1 year warranty worst luck, shame as there was a chance it would be UK sourced.
