Hi All,

Took a gamble and picked up this Tokina 28-70 from Ebay, had it two weeks and it has fallen apart. Is the only place for this the bin as the flexible circuit has had it.

Looks pretty terminal to me, and the ribbon cable appears to have snapped.

Yes second hand guys not sure of the age when I bought it, thanks for confirming that it needs binned, just such a shame as the optics are so nice

depends what you paid for it, I had a tokina that was sent off for repair, cost me about £120 IIRC, it could be fixed, just depends what the lens is worth

If you paid by paypal i'd stick a claim in, you've nothing to lose by contacting the seller first to see what he says

:suspect: I think the seller must have known is was buggered

Thanks mate, who did you use?

You say you've had it 2 weeks. If it was working when you acquired it and it has only just broken, then you'll be out of luck getting a refund if it was from a private seller. Unless specifically stated, there is no warranty. If you've just tried it for the first time and discovered the fault, then that's a different matter. But given the time that has passed, and the fact that you may have already left feedback, it weakens your case.

If all is lost, you may get a bit back if you sold it on ebay as non-working. I've recently seen a few broken lenses go for £15-£30 ish. I expect they are bought by people who are capable of repairing them then sold on.
