Actually, not grasshoppers but groundhoppers.

A quick cricket, grasshopper, groundhopper distinction (generalisation)

Crickets.....long whispy antennae
Grasshoppers and Groundhoppers.....shorter, stubby antennae
Grasshoppers have a fairly short pronotum (the neck brace) whilst Groundhoppers have one that extends almsot the full body length.
