I like the specs of the 70D for use as a sports camera.

However I have read a few posts on other forums where people are saying that the ISO capability is not much better then the 7D. The 7D as I underatnd from what I have read is pretty poor above ISO 1250.

So if anyone has a 70D can I see some images at ISO 5k, 6.4k and 10k?

Camera to be used under floodlights for football.

Thanks Robin

Ah that's a good idea. Hopefully it's not 100s of pages of spec discussion.

There's quite a few photos on the 70D owners thread that have been taken at higher ISO's and as a 70D owner and a previous 7D owner I can honestly say the ISO ability is a fair bit better on the 70D than the 7D. I couldn't get many decent photos above 1600ISO on the 7D but I've had some better ones out of the 70D at 6400ISO.

I have a 70D and I've taken lots of indoor Ice Hockey photos at 4000 and 5000 ISO with good results. I also have some outdoor floodlit turf hockey shots at 12800 that are quite usable.
It really depends of course on what you intend to do with the shots afterwards. They're good enough for the local papers and for the web and also for smallish prints depending on size required.

Some indoor floodlit ice hockey shots here at 4000 and 5000 ISO:

Thanks Duncan and Bob that is much appreciated.

They look pretty damn good to me and far better than the 7D.

One of the reasons I got the 70D as ihad a couple of plays in shop and was quite impressed with iso handling

Thanks Bob. Think I'll get one and give it a go. :ty:
