No
I had one when I started out in digital, and I got some decent shots with it. The trouble was it wasn't wide enough when shooting in cities. The wider end of the 18-270mm f3.5-6.3 Di II VC LD Macro or 18-270mm f3.5-6.3 Di II VC PZD would be more useful than +30mm on the longer end in my opinion. I still think about selling my G12 and putting one of those two on a 30/40D for use as a holiday camera.

I had one and used it to great effect at an airshow at the long end. It gives some great photos throughout the range, but it doesn't go very well with UV filters. I never really tried it on macro as I had a dedicated macro lens (Canon 100 f2.8L) so I can't help you with that bit, but it is a decent walkabout lens. I eventually sold it on when I bought a Canon 100-400 L and a 24-105 f4L.

I'd like to get another one to try on my 5D3, at 28mm it would be wide enough for my shots and 300mm is a very decent length as a walkaround. I've got plenty of lenses to cover the length now though so I can't really justify the expense of it.
