Anyone had a problem with a SanDisk Extreme Pro CF card?

Hi folks,

I got a SanDisk Extreme Pro 160mb/s CF 128GB card new and it arrived yesterday.
Unfortunately at least every other time I turn the camera on it comes up with a card error which obviously isn't any good or you go to take the shot and it has sprung the error up.

I'm sending it back tomorrow but was interested to see if anyone else had the same problem.

The camera I'm using it in us a Nikon D810 which has no problems with my Lexar card that writes at the same speed.

Have you formatted it in the camera?

Obviously the odd card will be faulty, but are you sure it's a genuine SanDisk? There are many fakes about/advertised.
Where did you purchase it?
 
I've tried formatting in the camera but it fails the format.
I bought from Ebay and it was advertised as genuine and with the 5 year warranty. The seller has offered to exchange it for me. Always used Sandisk cards before and this is first I ever had problems with. That said I've bought a right few Lexar's (micro SD, SD and CF) lately and they all seem good. Had a very bad experience (2 failed within hours) with Amazon and Samsung microSD cards but that is a different story!

Obviously there are some good sellers on evilbay, but tbh with stuff like memory cards, I wouldn't entertain the vast majority of sellers on there. Fake cards seem to be everywhere.
At least you've flagged up an issue with the seller, so if it was a fake, hopefully you'll get a kosher replacement. (why not ask for a refund?)

Can you post a link for the seller/purchase?

I've asked last night if it was a genuine card and if it wasn't I wanted a refund. Funny they haven't came back to me and I've sent them the RMSD details for the card I've just posted back. Any recommendations for good ebay sellers?

Email Sandisk with the card's serial number. You can't really believe anything the vendor tells you. My experience with batteries on eBay is that anything that's too cheap is a fake and I expect memory cards to be the same.
 
I generally buy all my cards from Amazon, and make sure its not one of the marketplace sellers. Amazon stock, fulfilled by Amazon etc. Im pretty sure ive never had a duff one from them, and eben if it did happen, their customer service (in my experience at least) is very good.

Experience tells me never to buy from Ebay (even if the seller says 'genuine' - they would say that, wouldn't they?!). Likewise Amazon unless it's 'sold by Amazon'.

I buy Sandisk from MyMemory who are usually the cheapest, or thereabouts, anyway. Go though TopCashBack at www.topcashback.co.uk/ref/digital (referral link and you get a £5 Amazon voucher) and they're cheaper by another 4%.
 
Never used the 128Gb version but I have the 64Gb one and it is phenomenally fast.

Agree with other posters that I avoid eBay and MarketPlace for cards to minimise risk of a knock-off.
 
It's the speed I like about them. I don't spray and pray but there is times when I do have a burst of photographs say during some aerobatic maneuver in the model flying. Two 64GBs make more sense than one 128GB anyway.
