Anyone moved from a Canon 400D to a 5D MKII?

No
I'm seriously thinking about buying a 5DII. I currently use a 400D.

I know I can (and will) read and compare the specs, but I'm interested in the findings of those people that have owned a 400 and a 5DII. I'd love to know what impressed you most about the 5D.

e.g. were you amazed at the low light capabilities of the 5DII?

5D2's trick is image quality. All aspects thereof, including high ISO. But you need to print big to see the difference.

If you never print larger than A4, or only view on screen, you won't see much difference. If you do though, IQ blitzes a 400D :)

One thing worth considering, any EF-S lenses you may have will not fit the 5D MkII (or any of the full frame bodies)

I went from a 450D to the 5D. I disagree about image size / quality - the differences are quite clear, even at Flickr sizes. Another big difference is latitude - how much high contrast the sensor can actually capture (or have rescued in pp). The only problem I have with the 5DII is that I now need to replace my lenses with better ones. The flaws in the cheaper ones I used before are all too apparent on the 5DII

I went from a 350D to a 5D2. Agree with Mark above, the differences are quite clear regarding IQ. Also agree the biggest problem has been buying new lenses of 'L' quality. Saying that I've just got back from picking up my new 2nd hand Sigma 12-24.

Just few months ago I was in your position, thinking of upgrading from my old 350d to 5d but instead went for 40d + some L glass and I never regretted not getting the 5d. Camera body comes and goes but Glass can still hole its value in case you need upgrading.

Made the jump. Purchased a 5D.

Quality product. Seems MUCH more capable than my 400D.

My old 18-55 kit lens doesn't work with it however ;-)
