Anyone tried the Tokina AF 16-28mm f/2.8 AT-X PRO FX Lens for Nikon

Sounds like a lovely lens but the 'no filters' bit is a bit of show stopper for me.

didnt someone cut the end out of a Nikon 14-24mm cap and wangle up some device so filters could be popped into the end cap, sure i saw this somewhere

There are some dodgy ways to mount Lee holder. There is one guy on ebay selling modified Cokin holders.

16-28 looked OK when I tried it, it's a decent lens, but no Zeiss :lol: If you look on the digital picture ISO crops the Nikon looks consistenly sharper and it's 14mm.

{And what makes me think I will buy that Nikon for my Canon before too long?}

Comparing them at 16mm the 14-24mm is better at f/2.8 mid frame and in the corners and slightly better at f/4, but the Tokina is better at f/5.6 and blows the Nikon away in the corners at f/8 and beyond which is where i would be using it and the lack of distortion is a bonus.

Now if only the Sigma 12-24mm was as sharp.
