Wondered if any dedicated nature photographers had invested in the fairly new ATX range of scopes? If so which size, 65, 85 or 95?

If so some info on your setup would be interresting. Do you use it with P&S camera or DSLR? What tripod do you use with it?

If you also use DSLR and 400mm or longer lenses do you use the same tripod as you would with the scope?

And for UK users, where did you purchase your scope? I think the cost for the 85mm seems to be about £2500.

Oh and example images or lnks to, would be appreciated also

Many thanks!

Can't help on your specific questions, Keith but I can comment on buying a scope.

Have to admit I have only bought one scope (though Mrs Tringa did buy some binoculars at the same time).

However, we used the In Focus ( http://www.at-infocus.co.uk/ ) shop at London Colney. If it is representative of the rest of their shops then I could not recommend this company enough.

We spent close to two hours trying out lots of scopes and binoculars. There was never any pressure to buy and we now have two devices that we are very happy with.

At the time I did not ask about digiscoping but I would not have been surprised if they would have been able to advise on this too.

Thanks Dave

would be interested to know what scope you got and whether you use it for digiscoping etc.

Keith, I bought an Opticron GS815 (not sure they still make it now). As yet I have not used it for digiscoping but I'm tempted as the cost compared to a big lens is fairly small, though there would be some trade offs.

Here is a review of the Opticron adaptors for digiscoping -
