anyone use manual lenses on their digi to shoot people and candids?

Started using auto focus a fortnight ago when i found out a good friend (whom i'd assumed manually focussed all the time) uses auto because he shoots wide open and has such shallow depth of focus he finds it much more accurate. It has def helped as I shoot wide open and click away while mates chat etc and it's normally low light but i wondered if anyone here used a manual lens for similar stuff? There's definitely something satisfying about manual focus.

It depends what shot you're shooting. Model shoots manual are challenging since they are always moving about. Not too much of an issue if you're shooting at f11 or so in a studio since the DOF is fairly large but outdoors manual focus tends to be a little fiddly.
Candids really have to be auto unless you're extremely quick and accurate focusing manually.

I do both depending on the subject, the speed of them and the light levels. Some of my lenses are better than others at grabbing focus so I sometimes just shoot manually. At least I get the shot that way and sometimes they are even in focus!
