try in the lighting section. I'm sure I've seen someone being quite insistent that these are the only things worth buying.

Is the bottom thing for a light stand/tripod screw (I think these have an adapter to change the size of the screw) or do you mean something else?
 
I do, but Calumet do an identical (probably made for them by Manfrotto) one which comes with two brass spigots for a few quid less....

Not sure what you mean by "what the bottom attachment for" - lightstand underneath, flash above, umbrella through the wee whole in the middle :shrug:
