Anyone used these ND grads?

I don't have any experience with Hi tech filters but in answer to the hard vs soft question, it depends what you're shooting.

A scene where the horizon is pretty flat ie a seascape a hard set would work best but for a scene where the horizon is not flat ie hill/mountains then a soft set would work best. Obviously there are pros and cons for both. I mostly use a hard set.

Ideally both sets would be good to have in your bag.
 
I have a full set of both hard grad and soft grad Hitech filters. The conventional wisdom is that the quality of Hitech is somewhere between Cokin and Lee, and more towards the Lee than Cokin.

And yes they do the job.
 
I get the impression that softs might be a bit more versatile. From my looking at my photos in Lightroom most of them don't have a totally flat horizon.
 
I bought a set of these after getting the Cokin P hard grad set, and finding out that the Cokin gave a purple/pink colour cast.

These fit in the Cokin P filter holder perfectly, and the Soft ones are definitely the ones to go for if you only buy one set, as it will be usable in a lot more situations. The hard grads seem only usable when the horizon is perfectly flat.

As for the quality of the Hi-tech, after using them only once I'm very impressed especially for the price. I've never used Lee so can't compre but the price of them and having to buy new holder/ring etc put me off a bit. These Hi-tech ones are a lot more neutral than the Cokin P and very good value for money.

I may upgrade to the Lee system in the future, but for now I'm very happy with these.
 
I've got the Hitech 1.2ND and 0.6 Hard Grad (with Lee Foundation holder and UWA adapter ring) and the quality is great. They're worth every single penny!

I have these. Not used them in anger yet, but am taking them to Devon for the week this friday. I'll report back.

Teamwork also do those with a set of the ND's for a reduced price. I did that, so now have soft grads, and NDs. Chuffed to bits I got those instead of the Cokins

Filters in the pic look like hard cut to me. I notice they use the same pic to illustrate both hard and soft kits.

I think probably a 0.6 (2 stops) hard grad is probably most useful, but that's obviously very subjective.
 
Filters in the picture are hard edge, but if you order the Soft Edge, you will receive the soft edge ones. I ordered from that website and received the soft edge.
