I've been cleaning my sensor tonight and I appear to have a stain and also one stubborn little bu**er which simply refuses to move.

I was wondering if this stain was something that Visible Dust's Smear Away might remove?

Also suggestions for removing the stubborn little dust particle would be appreciated.

I've so far used Dust Aid ultra clean with their micro fiber swabs I've also tried Eclipse E2 and I've also got the visible dust green and orange swabs with Visible Dust V.Dust Plus.

I appreciate that these will not really affect my images too much but their refusal to be removed is irritating me now and I want to get rid of them.

Thanks

The upper mark looks way too big to be dust. Not sure what it is. Have you any way of inspecting the sensor closely with a magnifier and bright light? Smear Away is usually for oily stains. Your mark may be a speck of oil that has spread out. I've used Smear Away to remove oil from my 5D sensor. I can't say I was over impressed with it. I still had to use plenty of swabs and E2 afterwards to clean off the Smear Away, but the oil did go.

As for the second mark lower down - marks like this that refuse to be removed are often pollen welded on. I've only had one case of this and it produced a much bigger black spot. But I have no doubt that pollen size varies a lot. It took a lot of pressure to remove mine - the corner of a wet swab and the glass squeaked, but no damage was done. If you have a strong constitution.........

A Visible Dust Sensor Loupe is a worthwhile investment. The best sensor cleaning aid I have bought.
