Just saw these online and look great but at £120 for 8gb pro version a tad pricey.

Anyone got one and using it? Or is it better to stick to CF cards? Im assuming the advantage is that instead of transfering back to pc etc you can connect to your wifi and dont need a card reader etc. Share directly on the web. But if theres no wifi available then I guess its just a box standard SD card.

Works as an SD card stores images etc, but has the added wireless feature to transfer images to a folder on a pc when in range of the wireless network, it can also transfer to online storeage or social networking sites if you so wish.

Your idea of removing the card reader from the equation is a possibility, spend the day out shooting get home turn the camera on and they will upload I have never really considered using mine in that way I tend to stick to normal SD cards and use the eyefi for when I want instant file transfers for event work and then I never use raw so I could get away with one of the cheaper cards but I still got the x2 pro. I think I bought it from Jessops and used one of their discount codes and quidco to make it less than £100

I fail to see an advantage if using the scenario of going out for a days shooting and then transferring when you get home but as a cheap alternative to the Nikon/Canon wireless options it is growing favour amongst event photographers.

Tethered shooting, minus the tether?

The only real use I see for the eyefi or other wireless transfers is for the case where it may be needed to view the images instantly with event photography, studio work or somewhere else like a themepark. I'm sure my uses are very limited and there are loads more but removeing the need for a £15 card reader by buying a £100+ memory card is a little excessive.

- the sort of things I would shoot 'when going out' are landscapes and wildlife, things I would not shoot tethered - The Nikon/Canon Wireless are already a replacement for tethered and I use my Nikon wireless for that successfully.
