If so could I ask you a few questions please on configuring the settings.
1. Whenever I send an email I get a copy of it in the All Mail box....how can I change this to prevent a copy being added here.
2.Why is there an In box and All Mail box what is the difference.
3. When I delete a message in either box it keeps showing up again and is not sent to the Trash folder....why??
Hope someone can help please as I'm loosing my hair very quickly!!

In all mail you have all emails, doesn't matter what label it as, if it is labeled as inbox,or work etc. You don't have 2 copies of one email :)
It's a way it filters mail
 
Yes.
1. I don't think you can.
2. The Inbox is your incoming mail box. The all mail box includes your inbox and any replies you sent. It's your trail of mail. It also holds conversations that you delete or move to a folder.
3. How do you delete the message? The Trash isn't a true trash as far as I'm aware, but is used if you connect to GM via IMAP.

Ps - probably should have added that i'm viewing my emails through Windows Live

Dragging and dropping from the All Mail folder into the Trash folder and then deleting from there seems to work......unless they amazingly reappear when I open up gmail again!!

I presume this info is based on working in gmail.com and not in Windows Live

I have no idea how gmail integrates with Windows live.....

Windows Live is the Microsofts version of Gmail and Google Docs and works differently

Google like the threaded view and approach that is quite different to normal web based email clients.
