Anyone using Nikon's 600mm f4 VR

Just wondering whether anyone on here is using the 600mm f4 VR Nikon lens. I'm considering one but could do with some hands on advice before parting with the £7000 :cuckoo:

I dont know if trurobirder has posted yet, I recommended the site & he joined, he has the 600mm - used it with his D3 & now his D3x, I know that he still uses his 300mm f2.8 for travel with a converter due to the size & weight of the 600http://www.talkphotography.co.uk/forums/images/smilies/clap.gif:nikon:
 
A bit heavy for the hills Mark? I considered the 500mm vr, but decided the 300mm was plenty heavy enough.So I use the 1.7 with it if required. :shrug:
I know you also use converters also.
But then again, lens lust is a wonderful thing and the 600mm is certainly worth lusting after. :love:

I had the Nikon 600mm f4 VR and 400mm f2.8 VR on loan from nikon for a month when i was considering a swap to them from canon, the image quality i was getting from them was on a par with the canon versions i have, I think the VR may have been slightly better than canons IS but that was expected as i believe its a newer variant, so i dont think you can go wrong with it quality wize, cannot comment about value for money etc as that's just a personal thing.

On a side note i didnt do a swap as for what i shoot i didnt see any benefit in swapping.
 
The bag you just bought is going to be way to small !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. ;)
