i have the above combo but have an intermittant fault, it'll focus ok and track etc but then randomly stops focusing and will not allow focus lock/shutter release.

could it be a compatibility issue?
 
no-one then?
 
im not sure it would be compatibility if it was intermittant, id expect it all of the time?

might be worth firing sigma service a quick email, theyre normally pretty quick at replying and offer good advice.
 
rang sigma today, they said to send it in, so i'll do that. i have googled it and it appears to be a common problem, maybe out of date lens software. I'll know soon. Thats 2 lenses i own off at the repair shop, both 3rd party...maybe i should buy a canon lens sometime...
 
If you shake the lens does it rattle ??? I have the Nikon version and the rear element came loose and wouldn't focus on infinity. Sent it away had it back with 4 working days £59.99 delivered now is spot on
 
no rattles, its in very good condition, i dont chuck my lenses about the place! :P
 
Mine is in very good condition and lives in a padded case in my very padded rucksack but the rear element still came loose some how. Just sounds similar to what mine was doing that was all.
