Anyone with experience of having a Sigma lens calibrated?

Hi people,

I recently bought a Simga 30mm F1.4 for my Canon 40D and I'm not that impressed with it. The focussing seems erratic and it isn't sharp until F2.8, and even then I wouldn't describe it as razor sharp (whereas my Sigma 17-70 is razor sharp at all apertures).

Sigma have quoted £29 for it to be calibrated, I'm just wondering if anyone else has had experience of their calibration, and whether it is possible to "rescue" a bad copy of a lens? I have found other threads on here where people reported the same problems with this lens, but they bought the lens new and the solution was to return it and get a new one - which solved the problem.

Any advice welcome!

Hi Phil

Have just had a Siggy 8-16 breathed on by Sigma Servicing and it has come back better than new. It had intermittant focussing but now is as sharp as anything and focuses super-fast and accurately. For the sake of £29 I would definitely give them a try.

Just my experience.
