Yes i use it for my PP i find its pretty good and has some handy features. Doesn't do quite as much as Photoshop but for the bulk of Post Processing it does what you want for a good price
I prefer Light room BUT you can download and try both aperture and lightroom for a month so you can try both and decide. Its not really easy to say whether you would prefer one to the other. I tried LR because of the way that aperture stores its images only to find that aperture can store them the same way BUT by the time that I had tried LR I was hooked and wouldn't use aperture again.
