Can this be done?

I have a folder with subfolders containing images. They have all been processed and are ready for burning to a disc.

I have a second folder, containing the same images, but they have been processed differently (b&w). There are no subfolders and it needs sorting.

Is there any way of easily taking the file structure of the first folder and applying it to the unsorted folder? I'm guessing Automator would be the thing to use, but how?

File names in the folders are the same.
 
I'm sure it would be possible, but I'd have to have a play around with automator to have a look.

I'd try something along the lines of:

Copy correct folder structure into new folder
Get the name of the colour image -> look in b&w folder for image with that name -> copy into new folder -> over writing colour (or if different names delete colour image)
 
Doh! I'm stuck on windows at work, but will try and cobble something together later.

Are the files named the same?

yes, file names are the same

Folder A contains trackday images I sorted out into different cars.
Folder B contains b&w conversions of the same images. File names are the same. Sorting several hundred pictures will take ages!
 
Cool, for that the process would be:

Copy folder A to make folder C
For each image in a subfolder of C get the file with the same name from folder B and replace the original
Repeat for each subfolder
 
OK, maybe some Applescript is needed rather than Automator. You'll probably be better doing it manually, unless you can get your head round Applescript quicker than me!
