I'm currently specking up a new video editing/photography facility here at work and am wondering about the screen options. We are looking at putting in 41 Mac Pros (30 of them dual screen). The obvious option is to put in 24" Apple Cinema displays. But I wondered about the option of using some of the lower end Eizo, Lacie or Nec monitors instead.

The price ideally needs to be kept around £500 ex vat or lower. Glossy screens are ideally a no no, bonus points for a programmable LUT, hood would be a bonus (On the Lacie and Eizo monitors, can you split the hood so it only covers the far sides of a dual screen setup?) and ideally I'm looking at 1920x1200 res so probably 24" monitors although 22" monitors of the same res would be even better due to space constraints. Any ideas?

How does the Eizo FlexScan S2243W hold up against the Apple Cinema Display?

The NEC's at focus looked fantastic even down to the consumer based 22ish ips screen they had, i'd honestly either go for an NEC or an Eizo, purely subjectively they've always stunned me whereas the mac screens haven't at all

i imagine the hoods are reasonably flexible but i'd get in contact with a supplier/manufacturer to get the full story :)

Monitor choice is very subjective. personally I'd go for the Eizo, which I almost did until the quad core iMac came out.

If you can, have a word with Colour Confidence in Birmingham. I spent an hour or so with them last year looking at monitors ( yes they actually have a monitor showroom). It may be worth a trip to Brum especially considering the number of monitors involved

The Eizo FlexScan S2243W can display more of the adobe colour gamut than the apple cinema displays can and is considerably cheaper.

Although I now have an IMac i7 for some time I used an Eizo for work & home & find it a better monitor

dont think you can find Eizo 24" below £500....if you will find one...let me know ;D

i'm sure eizo do a 1920x1200 22" but frankly google will provide more answers than myself :)
