Has anyone seen or know of an ARCA style plate that will fit the Manfrotto 393 long lens bracket?

I've got one of the Kirk lens collar on my Nikon 300 AF-S lens and this has an ARCA foot mount built into it. I'd like if at all possible to be able to mount the lens/Kirk collar straight to the 393 base.

Any help or advice most welcome.

Hi, I spent a long time looking for Arca style plates to convert my heads to that mount. The RRS and Kirk were expensive to buy several, I found a place on Ebay that sold Arca Swiss plates and clamps that seemed as good a quality as the Kirk I had. They are called CameragearUK and based in the UK near Norwich, service is first class. I have an 393 head and I mounted the Arca style plate onto the Mafrotto plate as a permanent fitting.

They sell two types of clamp, one with a threaded 1/4" hole which is what you need and another with an unthreaded hole. Cost is about £22 plus whatever plate you require. I would suggest one of the longer plates as it gives you more scope for balancing the rig.

I hope this helps.

Paul.

Thanks for the help Paul, I'll have a look for them on eBay.
