Arca type quick release plate

It is usually the head that uses an arca swiss plate. What type of head or tripod is it?
 
The top plate on your head will have a screw fitting to tighten up to the plate on the bottom of your camera. Being realistic if you are asking then your head won't be Arca compatible. They are totally different from other clamps.

Would help if you told us what head you have. Almost any tripod will take an Arca head

The plate you show isn't Arca so you'd need a different head always assuming that your tripod has a removable head.
 
What an odd website. The tripod that seems to relate to that head isn't shown. There only appears to be one Arca head in there. Your plate certainly doesn't appear to be one.
Have you got a link to your tripod? I couldn't find one!
 
Velbon have a reputation for being at the lower end of the spectrum. I wouldn't try and find a tripod to fit the plate. Any decent tripod will come with its own plate.

If you are after a tripod with or without Arca there is a whole range of stuff out there that is probably better than what you are thinking of.
 
You can usually buy the two as a unit but there is no need to do so. Do you have/want Arca? Most shop bought tripods don't come with Arca heads. The world is your oyster with both of these.

The more experienced guys usually buy the two items separate. The first thing is to work out exactly what you want.

There are three aspects to consider. Light, strong, cheap. You can have any two of these but not all three.
 
Sunwayphoto make excellent stuff. Good quality and excellent value for money.

Those shown are ARCA. You can see the screw clamp on top. One you've had Arca and used an L bracket you'll never go without.
 
It's not Arca but manfrotto quick release system seems pretty decent to me.
 
What we don't know is OP's thinking. Why did he ask for Arca at the outset? Was he mistaken in thinking his plate was Arca? Is he desperate to have Arca?
What does he want a tripod for? What camera/lens combination will he be putting on it?
So many questions. So few answers.

If he just wants a general use tripod then the Manfrotto shown will be a very good choice for him. Comes complete with a head and compatible plate.

Yes your correct,i didnt put much imformation,reason iasked was i was ordering an nd filter from states and they had a good looking arca plate which i may have added,anyway.here is a bit more info.
Wanting a decent setup for landscape ,not expecting to get into the sea;).
Canon 6D going on it with 16-35 F4is and sometimes 70-200 F4 is(i have the clamp collar for lens)
So thats about it.
What do you suggest?

I'm not sure that would work, I remember trying to put a manfrotto QR plate on a red snapper head and the fitting on the plate was different to the stalk which it screwed into. It was possible but it worked itself loose after one or two outings.
 
I would just get a new tripod if you can, something like a Redsnapper with a Swiss arca head can be had for less than £100 and even less with 10% discount with code RED10 if that still works.

There are several ways of adapting a non-Arca head to accept Arca plates.

The Manfrotto system is good and the quick-release is a bonus, but it doesn't have the same functionality as an Arca compatible L-plate. Different horses for different courses. Different, but neither is "better".

There's been loads of discussions about these heads on here if you search, and I think they are the best bang for buck. Top of the range you are then looking at RRS, Arca Swiss, Kirk etc...... Also, the heads come with an adapter screw to take you from 3/8 to 1/4 if your current tripod needs it.

I have now bought a few longer plates (100 & 150mm) for the head from Amazon for less than a tenner each and they seem very good to me, will probaly buy a L plate next year.

Also treated myself to a geared column tripod which is also excellent and great for my use at home, would be a bit heavy to lug around at 3.8kgs.

the main advantage or arca style is you can have a plate thats 20cm long, or 2cm :), so its great for compact cameras and long lenses, and L brackets are more natural
