Looking for some advice on ideal gear to use and best times for doing architecture and urban landscape work?

Luckily for me in a half hour walk I can be in the centre of Cambridge. Much easier and more on my doorstep than being able to get anywhere to do non urban landscape photography. Lots to photo but unsure what gear besides camera, lens and tripod I might need. Filter recommendations?

You probably don't want to hear this, but for architecture you might be best with a 4*5 view camera, with full movements... ;) Not for everyone, of course! I haven't used on, but I've read that tilt-shift lenses can be similarly useful for keeping your verticals parallel. Not sure that any specific filters would be helpful.

Ok thanks for the response, i dunno why i mentioned architecture as it'd probably be more urban photography than anything else.
