ARCHOS G9 8in Android table

Daughter has another Archos device which she loves so I am a big fan of the brand.

I had quite an extended play with one of these in CPW the other day and compared it against half a dozen tablets. I wanted to like this device since it is exactly the size I want for pure portability. Have to say though I found it scrolled though the onboard photos noticably slower than all othe tabs I looked at; this put me off a bit.

There is a "turbo" version out but not widely available with much faster processors. I'd look at that for photo viewing.

This one is a lot of tech for the cash though.

I have an Archos 5 series (not a tablet - just a 250gb hd with vid screen)

Been going off them as each iteration I had was getting worse. The first one 80gb hd I had came with everything. The next one (after that died) went apple route - ie no extras... so had to buy those. And the last one is still working atm, but the touch screen was like two layers, not very responsive.

Not sure on the tablets. If you can get one that has been played with in store for a day and see how fast the screen scrolls and how responsive is the screen to touch.

I'd be looking towards a 9in sony tablet - seemed to be pretty responsive and fairly fast at the scrolling - around 380 in blacks atm (down from 420) for a 32 gb version. Possibly the samsung 10in or samsung 8.9 (had a 7in and was very good - just not quite what I wanted).

Think they all run on android and therefore you could also program on them... :)

Best to get to a store with loads and handle/play with them a bit. Then search online for a good deal..? Good luck!
