Are all photo printers now all-in-ones ?

My Epson R220 has just packed in and I'm looking for a decent replacement, mainly to be used for printer A4 photos..

looking around there seems very little choice of dedicated photo printers, are they all going as "all-in-one" now & if so could anyone recommend one?

I'd recommend one of the Canon IP range, I upgraded from an Epson R300 to the IP4500 and am getting mucg suppier results (both were geniune paper and inks so no compromise there)

Thanks...I was looking at the Canon IP4600 & the Epson R285 (my preferred choice) but finding one available to buy isn't quite as easy as I thought, seems the all-in-ones are taking over

I have epsons with a passion
the R800 and huge A4 printers are good quality but very expensive to run

I've never had a problem with the pixma ip4-5000 range
love them, versitile cheap and like the output
but don't skimp on cheap photopaper, get the decent cannon stuff and the proper inks for the best results

I use the Epson R1800 & Epson 9880 and would not trade them for any thing else, I get stunning prints from them both.

For a Canon why not give try before you buy a go?

Thanks for the replies everyone,

After trawling through the reviews I've just ordered a Canon MP540, gets excellent comments...the general consensus seems to be that Canon has overtaken Epson in print quality....with a bit of luck the Canon will use a bit less ink than my old Epson too..that cleaning cycle was a bit annoying !!
