Looking to buy a shoot through umbrella.

I have 2 options.

Pay £15,000 or £30?

I am by no means a beginner, but also not a pro studio.

I plan to use the umbrella for real estate in certain situations as well as portrait stuff.

What should I really be looking for?

Just get one of Lencarta's offerings. It will do the job without breaking the bank, but be a lot better than the crap you'll get from the likes of Amazon. :) (y)

15 grand for an umbrella? I'd want a solid gold one for that!

As above if you want a simple white shoot through go for Lencarta. I bought a cheap one of fleabay it is did not last long, and then bought the Lencarta ones and they are still working like new.

It really depends on usage, I generally used to use brollies and brollyboxes when on the move, they take a lot of stick and so I consider them to be almost disposable - so the cheaper the better.

The only thing I would say, especially with regard to portraits is buy the biggest you can use in your available space

My Lencarta brollies now have a tinge of yellowing on the fabric after only three years.

Nice and warm as a straight reflector though!
