Are cheap eBay ring flashes any good?

Looking at trying Macro and am considering buying one of the cheap Ring Flases from eBay. I've just made a Pringles diffuser which works quite well. Would the Ringflash be worth the upgrade?

the led ones dont produce alot of light, few stops, and they dont freeze stuff like a flash would

but as a focus assist light and secondary light then yeah they are reasonably useful

I've stuck with a conventional 2nd hand flash or two, but these are by all accounts half decent and would be my 1st punt:
