Are strange things on the wings in the first few for tagging them?
5 & 6 are my favourites, Lovely set

Yeah, those are tags. They ID the birds in 3 ways - the colour gives the year (this years chicks have been given what was described to us as Barbie Pink - and yes, they are very very pink
) Then the tag on one wing shows the area, with the other one finally giving the individual bird number. Argarty have tagged around 70 young in their area this year IRRC, slightly down on last year, but thats only for the nest sites they can actually get at - theres quite a few that they can't get to
