Argh! Togger's Regret

So I've been snapping pictures for a few years but in the last 12 months I've gotten more serious about photography and last year I upgraded from my humble compact to a Panasonic FZ150. Just over a fortnight ago I finally made the plunge into the world of SLR with a new Nikon D5100 and a copy of Lightroom 4. I am like a child at Christmas and loving every minute of it. Except, I am feeling something I have termed Togger's Regret and I bet you've all felt this at some point in your life; I want to go back and take all those old snapshots again.

When I was just using my compact I only ever viewed my pics on my smartphone and never printed them, so I always saved them as a jpg and resized (gasp!) them to around 1200xwhatever. You see where I'm going? Now I'm processing the new raw files in Lightroom and WOAH LOOK AT THE DETAIL so I went back to my old jpgs and it's grumpy face time. Why oh why oh why did I ever make them so small?

I'll just have to deal with the agony. :)

At least you have now seen the light!

Onwards and upwards, don't look back at things you can't change.

Don't worry about it, it's in the past, nothing you can do.

I look back at some of my pictures and would love to redo them, not because of size, etc., but because I know I'd do a much better job now.

same!

loving photos out of my full frame 5DII, and when i looked back to photos from D3100 with kit lens, i am disappointed with its amount of noise and lack of details in some shots i could have cropped.

but the future is bright, out skills will only improve.

Well on the plus side, Lightroom is pretty good at making all those old jpgs better. :)
