As part of an online cousre I'm doing, I have to build my own zone ruler.

I have taken 15 shots, 1 correctly exposed then 7 stops down and 7 stops up.

The course notes say that I will have to use a "densitometer" to build the ruler and that there will be one in Photoshop. I cannot find it, can anyone shed any light on it?

Cheers

Using the Densitometer
A very powerful tool that Photoshop offers is the Densitometer under the Show Info palette. Then click on the small right pointing triangle at the upper right of the palette box, and click on Palette Options. Then check the box for Actual color. Check the second box and select Show Grayscale Values.
The info palette will show the color information for the Red, Blue and Green channels of the pixel you have the cursor over. Zero values indicate no color information, and a value of 255 indicates totally saturated. In these terms, a pixel with RGB values of 0,0,0 would be totally black, and 255, 255, 255 would be totally pure white. A value of 255, 0, 0 would indicate pure totally saturated Red.
