Im not sure whether this is a real superleggra, if it is, its a fortune, if not, its still worth more than my house.

I've not posted up a full body shot as the owner is still yet to see the images and I wish I could have got the car in a totally empty space without any other vehicles in there so am hoping to get a re-visit in the new year, minus all the distractions plus a valet as it was fairly dirty.

Here are most of the other images, I picked a selection below, but there are a few more in the album here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/cdhpix/sets/72157649356334117/

Used a mixture of lenses, from a 24-105 to a 11-16mm Tokina (at 15mm on full frame to remove vignetting) and a macro 105mm siggy for the dials and closeup shots. Had 2 lights on full power (Neweer C250's) though I should have used 4 lights and got the ISO down a bit (ISO 1250), but with some noise reduction it cleaned up the grain quite nicely.

1.. Tokina, F9, the JPG compression has caused some awful colours in this shot as you can see on the dash mainly on the left and the floor (blotches of colour)

2.. For a car of its age (about 50 years old), it will still shift like shat on a shovel. Used the sigma 105mm Macro lens on this shot

8.. Macro lens again for some close up detail on the wheel spokes.

Thanks for looking.

Classic motor!

The circumstances have created some really attractive cropped images, all of which are details which make the car the classic thoroughbred which she is.

Look forward to seeing the whole car in one shot once the owner's seen the set.

Real or fake? Who cares?! Unless one's parted with the cash for a real one and suspect it's less than kosher! Stunning car either way.

Cheers Robin/Nod, the seats were surprisingly undamaged so whether no one has been sitting in her or if the seats have been reconditioned, I'll have to find out. Was pretty mind, except for the scratches on the clock face covers etc... Seats look better condition than the interior so somethings no doubt been repaired over the years. Bloody lovely motor though

I always thought the DB6 was a step down from it's predecessor because it didn't have machine guns as standard like the DB5 did.

Lovely car - for me I like 4 & 5 because you've caught the details that epitomise the model.

"Superleggera" or superlight just refers to the method of body construction of aluminium outer skin over a steel tubular structure, pioneered and patented by Carrozzeria Touring of Milan who built bodies for Aston Martin as well as Lancia, Alfa Romeo et al. Inspiration for the process came from the aircraft industry from the 1920's.

It has its problems, mostly preventing electrolytic corrosion between the steel and aluminium, unless isolated with something inert.

Cars using this are difficult to restore because the outer skin generally survives well - local areas of corrosion where the steel tubes met the body, but the tubes underneath often rust away leading to a car that is quite fragile. We have five cars using this body construction in our workshop at the moment.
