Planning on trying some Astro tomorrow for the first time.
I will be taking my Sony A7iii and a Sigma 20mm f1.4 Art plus batteries etc.

I am based in Lanarkshire in Scotland and need some advice on where is best to shoot.

Hopefully looking to get some shots of the Milky Way but I would love to get a body of water in the picture too if possible or some other interesting subject.

Happy to travel for a couple of hours in any direction.

Anyone have any advice on where is best to shoot?

Thanks

Well you have excellent kit for it and are in an excellent part of the country.

I'd head to Galloway park if I were you, it's a dark sky site.

Although if you don't want the moonlight affecting things (some people like it, and I think it can be used creatively) then you need to wait till the start of June and shoot from sunset till just after mid night. Or wait till the new moon on the 13th.

What are you after? Star trails or Milky Way?

Hi Craig
Trying to get some Milky Way stuff primarily but I will probably do some star trails also.
I was looking at Moffat (dark sky town) and in particular St Mary's Loch or there abouts.
