I have been looking at these for a while and am quite keen to find out if these have any uses in star trail photography instead of deep space? If anyone uses them and can provide examples then I'd be very grateful!

Only if you need to get rid of the glow from street lights and then they will markedly increase your exposure times, meaning you would really need an equatorial mount or an astrotrac mount to make use of them.

It's far better to drive out to a darker site than it is use the filter in a more built up area that suffers from light pollution.

Driving out to a dark place is not practical and not all dark sites have the things you want to photograph so that's brings me back to the filter.
Do you have any real world examples to show?
I do star trails and so don't need any kind of tracking mount either, I use multiple stacks of photos taking around 30 sec exposures on iso100 or 200.

They reduce your exposure by about 1 stop, so tracking isn't required.

Phil, I have had a look on there before but I think it relates more to planetary / deep space work where as I am a little bit more interested in city / landscapes with trails. Thanks though
