AT LAST. 70-200 2.8 IS L MkII tomorrow.

I've just had an email giving me the tracking number for my new 70-200 MkII. I started out with a 70-200 f4 non IS last year and kept saving till I could afford the f2.8 IS MkI (with selling the f4).

The MkI was great, very sharp and I got some really great photos from it, but I kept on reading all your posts on how much better the MkII was so I aimed for that.

After selling my MkI and my (now unused) 550D, which was my first dslr, I ordered the MkII from www.panamoz.com on monday. I paid by bank transfer and received a 5% discount for doing so, and paid a total of £1361.34, which is a real bargain IMO. I can't wait to try it out on my 5D3 tomorrow, I just hope this great weather holds out so I can go shoot with it. :D

I can't think of what else to aim for now, maybe a 1.4x and 2x Canon converters to go with it, or maybe a 17-40 L if I get taking landscapes.
 
It is an absolutely fantastic lens and I just discovered (yesterday) that the 1.4xII works perfectly with it as well giving a 280mm F4 ISII with full autofocus. I also discovered that the 300 F4 IS works with the converter too, so my 400 F5.6 (non-IS) is now defunct.....

I'd suggest your next lens choice should be the 24-70 F2.8L which is the perfect compliment to the 70-200 on a full frame camera.:thumbs:
 
Got it through at 9.36 AM so it's took around 68 hours from ordering to delivery. I've only took around 10 photos with it so far, and all at f2.8, and from what I can see so far it's definitlely a lot sharper than my (very good) MkI. I'm a convert already.

Great news. So all in all, Panamoz experience was good..?
 
From now on I'll be checking Panamoz first for everything I buy. This is the 3rd lens off them this year, and 2 new bodies as well, and every time has been excellent. I can't recommend them highly enough.

Hi Mark, the f4 I bought off you, excellent as it was, was sold on to get a 2.8 MkI IS and that was sold on to get the MkII. It's been a while to get there but it's definitely worth the wait. My MkI was really good wide open, but only past f4 did it get as sharp as the MkII at f2.8. Only had it on my 5D3 so far, but some of the shots are coming out as sharp as my 100 L Macro.
