Hi guys, im looking to attach a camera to a leica mz8 microscope - doesnt neeed to be a dslr could be a compact..

It has an adapter with the microscope which is a 10445929 0.5x if this helps??

Many thanks ben

Hi Ben some pics would be useful :)

Your microscope will be either a binocular head or a trinocular head. The binocular having just the two eyepices and the trinocular has a port going straight up. That's the bit that you normally mount a camera on but I have also seen it done by using an adaptor down one of the eyepieces.

So I need to know which head you have, binocular or trinocular then I should be able to help. :)

as above really, send through some pics, all my scopes are trinoculars which makes things a lot easier, not sure they did a trinoc head for the mz8 though

here you go guys:

looks liek it has both eye pieces?

defo tinocular, you'll need an adaptor that slides over the photo port at the back

Ok so now we know what you have at one end. What camera do you want to put on it? :)

Questions....questions.... :)

well i have a d90 and a 105mm macro lens if that would work, alternatively suggest a compact and an adapter? as its for work and they dont wanna buy a dslr

Cheers again Ben

does that mean that the adapter on the tp (circled in red) can be used? it reads 10445929 0.5x

That's the lens that magnifies the image for the camera, does it have a threaded bit on the top? If so at that size it's probably a c-mount fitment for a video camera, if you look on the brunel site there will be adaptors to convert an slr or compact top this fitment. The adaptor in my pic slides over the top of the tube similar to yours on my microscope. The leica adaptors are crazy expensive

Thanks for picking that up Kevin :)

Spot on what you need, a C mount adaptor.
