Attaching my X100 to a tripod, hole sizes?

Does anyone know if the size of the tripod mount hole on the bottom of a 5d Mark 3 is the same size as the hole on the bottom of a Fuji X100?

I’m currently using a Manfrotto 055XPROB tripod with a 496RC2 quick release head. The head attaches to the tripod via a 3/8 inch thread and the quick release plate attaches to the 5d via ¼ inch thread.

Additionally, when I fit the quick release plate to the camera base and them insert it into the quick release holder, there seems to be a fair amount of wobble, it holds the camera in place but not very tightly. Anyone else have this issue?
 
The 1/4" / 20 UNC thread (close enough to Whitworth to be interchangeable for this application) is fairly standard across all makes and models, the only exceptions being older/larger cameras which may use 3/8" / 16 UNC/Whit (as still found on top of many sets of tripod legs.)

There shouldn't be much flex/wobble when the QR plate is properly clamped to the platform but a small amount of flex is almost inevitable in the whole system - a flex/wobble free tripod isn't that portable! Pushing the QR lever gently towards the camera can help clamp it marginally tighter or there might be a little bit of grot somewhere between the mating surfaces, stopping the plate and platform meeting tightly.
 
Close enough but strictly speaking, it's UNC rather than Whitworth. IIRC, Whitworth has a thread angle of 55° while UNC is 60°. For the application involved in this discussion, the threads are close enough to make no difference! :)
