attaching welding glass to lens?

i've picked up a piece of welding glass to play around with but now i need to find some way of fitting it to the lens.
i tried the elastic band method of holding the glass in front of the camera, but if i tried to focus or zoom i couldn't because the elastics prevented the lens from moving.

i've seen a cokin p type filter holder with adaptor ring to fit the lens i'll be using, it's only a couple of quid on ebay so it's tempting. will it work with my lens which has a moving element on the end for focusing? or does the part it screws into need to be fixed?

the other option is buy a cheap filter and remove the glass, get the welding glass cut to size and rebuild it.

can people recommend either of these methods and post pics of what they have done themselves?

You can superglue a 67mm ring (for example) directly to the welding glass.

when you say superglue a filter ring to the glass do you mean get the glass cut to size or just use the whole rectangular piece the way it came?

Don't see why, it's no bigger than the Cokin filter people use for landscapes.

I used to blutak to fix mine to an old UV filter, then covered all of the glass in duct tape (apart from the part infront of the lens) to help stop any light leaks, but mainly to cover up the sharpish edges.

Though I ordered an actual 10stop filter this morning so it will be much easier now. Well once it arrives
