Attachment to block backwards flash?

Hey everyone,

I sometimes shoot gigs at a tiny little venue in which there's no choice but to use a little fill flash on lowest power. The venue have no problems with using flash but I hate flashing the people behind me. Is there any attachments for flashes that can cover up part of the diffuser to stop the people behind me being blinded? I saw a photographer that had taped some black card to help with it but I'd prefer something a little less Blue Peter if such a thing existed.

Other than attaching a flash hood or something similar I think the Blue Peter thing might be the best idea. I got a mini softbox that attaches by a strap to the flashgun so it's easily removable and it actually works quite well. Alternatively, you could get some flash diffusers to pop on and direct the flash towards the band and away from the crowd.

Something like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mini-Beau..._Diffusers&hash=item19d743ed14#ht_3215wt_3446 would work well as it has a black back and you get some different colour diffusers too.

Google 'black foamie thing' from neil vn. Maybe a little blue peter by your definition, but it works perfectly.

Spinlight 360 is non-Blue Peter version of black foamy thing, endorsed by Neil V http://www.spinlight360.com/

Or look at a Rogue FlashBender to do much the same thing (and plenty more besides).
