Auto Focus issues

Hi all,

Have no idea why but lately my camera seems to be going mental when it comes to auto focussing, it will lock onto what i want it to, then it beeps and locks onto something else, then goes back, it's like it's on speed.

I have had it where once it has locked, as i have pressed the shutter button down, it has focused on something else and the image is blurred.

Any suggestions?
 
Would switching the auto focus to continuous do that? Surely if focused on an item, in continuous it would still focus on that item, or am I being stupid?
 
Try cleaning the lens and body contacts.
