Seem like Canon do listen to some users.

As a 5DMKIII owner im really hoping Canon implement this on my camera as well.

Ill not bother arguing if its needed or how im not a proper photographer if i use it, this argument is one of the big divide's in the SLR world, but i just know i will make a lot of use of it if it happens.

completely agree there. So far the feature is useless for my work, because my subjects are usually not 18% grey. With this you could just set it once and not have to worry about anything but exp. compensation and maybe once in a while shutter speed.

Really? I have never seen any of the above.. are you sure your not being a bit of a drama queen about it?
 
I thought the 5D3 had auto ISO in manual mode already?? In fact I know it does because I use it.

It does have Auto ISO. What is being added is exposure compensation while using Auto ISO.

At the moment if you try to under or over expose deliberately then Auto ISO won't let you because it compensates for a correct exposure.
 
TV mode.. set your desired shutter speed
CFn Option set your MIN/MAX aperture to same number
Auto ISO

The above is the same as manual wiht auto iso accept your in Tv so can use ec +/-

I ahve the above assigned to a program mode so one flick and its all there...

Mine on a 1dx and presume you ahve same options on a 5d3

No of course im not, if you look you will find threads on the net about how some dont see the point. Not seeing something dose not mean it doesn't exist and warrant name calling.
All im saying is im not going to argue the point for it, nothing to do with being a drama queen, just pre empting some negative responses if there are any.

So when I need to quickly change aperture from f/1.8 to 5.6 I have to spend 3 min on the menus? It's far easier to keep changing ISO when needed.

Yes, thats not the same as the new update, and that method wouldn't work on a 5DMKIII anyway as we dont have min/max aperture in custom functions.

It seems that you can also set a higher min shutter speed with the new update. Another feature i would be over the moon with if it came to the 5DMKIII.

then you dont need auto iso do you...

personaly i use auto iso when i dont want to change the other two variables.. i dont want two variables on auto.. you may as well be on P .. I want 2 variables set and auto iso..

No, I disagree. Shooting weddings for example. You may shoot 1/125s for example to keep the iso low, then you move or something else happens, and there is less or more light. I could just shoot at 1/250s (static shot) but I could instead have lower iso. Or if it get's darker I am now at 1/40s and this is not so great. Every time I need to readjust ISO when I could just shoot and only worry about aperture and exposure compensation. I.e. I choose my aperture and shutter speed and exposure, and let the camera do the rest automatically.

Theres always going to be different ways of setting up and shooting for different situations.. personally the workaround works as I will always use auto iso in set situations where the shutter and aperture stay the same.. tonight for sure.. lots of times.... thus the auto iso workround works perfect for me... not for you... if we expand that then the auto iso workround is usefull for lots of people and not for lots.. I was never suggesting perfect for everyone :)

hopefully it helps someone as the update isnt pout until january 2014 :(

Thanks Tony, I hope this does work with the 5D3 as that will be my new black box soon and was one of the things I was hoping to have available. EC adjustment only when tweaking things sounds good to me.

I'll now take a look at the link from the OP and see what that's about.

Agreed, I would find it very usefull. I often use auto Iso, would love a higher min shutter speed and combine EC for aircraft shots.
 
I use Auto ISO regularly in Manual... I'd be more than happy to see exposure compensation added as well. Let's hope it does filter down to the 5DMKIII.

Anything that helps me to take better pictures is welcome in my book. :)
