Auto ISO / Min Shutter Speed 5D mk2

Hi all

I was fiddling with various techniques and have realised that when shooting Av mode, with Auto ISO, the camera selects a shutter speed that is barely usable for the focal length. As an example, with the 85mm F1.2 on the 5D2 I dialled in

F2.8
Auto Iso

This was giving me a shutter speed below 1/85 (I think it was 1/60th). The ISO was 200 so it had room for movement.With the same settings on the 16-35 F2.8 II @ 35mm it was giving me 1/30th. Its as if it thinks that getting the shutter speed as close to the focal length as possible to maintan the lowest iso is the way to go.

Is there any way you can set some kind of minimum. I would like to se 85mm F2.8 auto ISO to give lowest ISO Possible, Min shutter 1/125th as an example.

So, in a logical sequence i want
Aperture is controlled by me, followed by a shutterspeed of 1.25 X Focal length, ISO to accomodate that combo.

Any ideas?

Also, can the same be done for Tv mode where you can selct a Max / Min aperture?

Nope, this was addressed with the 5D III AFAIK, but still not as well as it is implemented in the latest Nikons

I thought there may be some way round this.

How do people on here combat this the. Or is it a case of Manual with auto ISO? I guess that way if i want 1/125th at F2.8 the iso just takes care of itself, but may the creep into the hi noise zone.

It would be good if you could set rules such as

If ISO goes above 1000 then adjust the shutter.

any ideas anyone...or do a have to buy a mark 3.....what a shame!!!
