Is there a way to tell the D700 to automatically set the ISO to L1 (100) when something is attached to the hotshoe?

I have this nasty habit of forgetting to change the ISO when I use my remote trigger and cursing when I am adjusting flash power when the subject is overexposed lol :bonk:

I usually remember after 5 mins of faffing around that I had the ISO set high for the natural light shots I was just shooting

Hi James,

I cannot clarify this is fact but a friend was at a RPS meeting recently when a senior Canon guy was giving a lecture. He explained that Canon as well as Nikon when you use the higher and lower settings you start to degrade the picture. Apparently they only put the option in there to get the 'specs' up.

Regards

Chris

I have also heard it is best to use the whole numbers on ISO, not all the intermediate numbers you get when you set the camera to use 1/3rd stops on ISO.

Don't know how true that is.

High ISO's on the D700 are amazing, so I wouldn't worry too much on that side of things.

I understand that but shooting with strobes and high ISO is irrelevant. I have a crap memory and "sometimes" I forget that I cranked up the ISO for a previous shoot, and forgot to put it back to 100 or 200... then I chuck on the remote triggers, fire up the light meter start running test shoots and stand there scratching my head as to why all my shots are over exposed when they shouldnt be, then I get angry because I forgot that I cranked the ISO up.

Unfortunately, me getting older means I start to forget things lol

It would be really handy to have a setting in the camera so that everytime I attach something to the hot shoe, the camera automatically selects ISO 100

I dont know if Auto ISO on the Nikons does this, I will have to have a play tonight...
