Autofocus (Multiple focus point)

I recently messing around with auto focus on my D7000 and D300.

The D300 have 51 focus point and D7000 have 39 focus point.

I usually use centre single point focus only and recompose if needed or select the point myself to do the shot.

When i use auto focus the view finder shows bunch of focus point light up to lock the focus on the subject, sometimes it hits the target perfect but sometimes it doesn't.

My real question is when i use the multi point auto focus and also set my camera to tracking mode, do each of the points on the auto focus will be tracked?

As far as I'm aware when set to 3D tracking it's only possible to have one focus point as your "start point". I'm pretty sure that the tracking function does not work, or is not even selectable, when using multipoint autofocus.

I can't be 100% on this as I've never used the multipoint autofocus on my D7k

Thinking about it now and looking at my D300, you are right. I can either select auto focus, tracking, single.

Silly me, can probably ignore my post lol
