Automated web printing for clients

Ok, so I've scoured the web (well googled a bit) and I can't find what I'm looking for. So I need some help from someone out there.

I'm looking to set up a website that will allow my clients to buy my prints etc... Simple? Well no.

The usual way is to take the order from your customer, say via an email, take payment, then email a printer the details for dispatch and then pay the printer and the printer dispatches. All seems a little longwinded?

So Is there a service out there, where you pre arrange with a printer; prices, comission %, various sizes and options etc, for your images. So when a client clicks on an image they want, it is all hosted (?) handled by the printer and the printer then just pays you your part of the transaction.

Customer logs on > Selects image and option > pays Printer > Printer dispatches > Printer pays you.

I'm sure someone can help me out, or at least simplify this for me...

Have a look at the pro gallery options with Photobox. If you only want prints and not framed and mounted (I don't think they do that) then they do this. They host the gallery but you can link from your website.

Thanks guys this is a big help. I'll have a look, Thanks.
Is there really no one who will cater for canvases, acrylics and framed too? Perhaps I've stumbled across a new business for someone brave out there...

 :naughty:

OK - so I have my own printing company. I print large format prints (up to 44" x any length) on a range of glossy, semi-gloss, luster, matt and canvas etc

I also print my own prints on either the Fuji ASK-2000 or the trusty Epson R1800.

I also have some specialised software for selling my prints online ... and I also have my picture framer in the unit next to me. Sooooo .... !!

Check out the Gallery type here:

www.action-pix.co.uk/togs/gallery.html

Click on my name (this could be any clients name) and redirects you onto my personal gallery. You can set the cost of prints, what you want to sell, what options and offer discounts etc.

What you think? Potential for a business to take off?

Lee, I've just looked at your site and it looks good. I'm not a pro tog but the prices seem reasonable and the site looks good.

Thanks Peter

Those are my 'typical' retail prices.

However, i'd have the Photographer set their own price (as long as it covered the cost of printing in) etc.

Just working on a flash version now.

I've put it together today. If you're interested in giving it a go (anyone for that matter), PM me and i'll get you a gallery setup in minutes.

It won't allow you to link to them (i.e Webspace) as they're all built into a flash application, better for security too ;)
