What I would say is things are turning earlier than normal here in North Yorks due to drought stress which is still ongoing to some extent..
Usually people tend to go too early, as early November is peak especially for Oak areas.
But this year I think after mid-October or even now would see good displays and less chance of a sudden storm finishing it overnight, plus better chance of good splashes of sun.
