Hi im new here and new to DSLR photography.
I like taking pictures of the sea and waterfalls and haven`t really been having much luck because of the brightness.

I have been looking at the B+W +10 filter and it looks exactly what i am after but Jessops are selling a set of cokin filters

http://www.jessops.com/online.store/products/77189/show.html?cm_vc=PPZ1

Does anyone have any experience with these filters and would they be as good as the B+W filter for getting that silky effect of water.

Thank you

Graduated means that only the top half of the filter is ND and designed to say reduce the brightness of the sky when doing landscape photography. With them only being half coloured i doubt they would work for what you want.

Would the Cokin be better than the B+W ones? There is a hell of a price difference between the two of them, the B+W ones are glass the Cokins are resin.

I have one and it is very difficult to see through it but it will do what you want and is very high quality glass.

Thank you Knikki thats a great help.

Ill go with the B+W filter then and get a step down ring so i can use it on my other lens.

I think i will set the camera up first for the shot then attach the lens because as you say i won`t be able to see anything once the filter is in place.

You will need a step UP ring as you are going up from lens to filter (I hope!)

You need to get the ND filter to fit your biggest lens to avoid vignetting.

You need to order the 62mm filter and a step UP ring from 52mm Nikon lens to 62mm filter.
