B&W Printing - Help

Looking at getting into black and white printing - I always find film prints to have that little bit extra over digital prints.
I want to do this properly so I figure that if I get the best equipment available I won't need to invest twice to upgrade if it's something I take to. Equally if I don't take to it I can sell it again, although maybe at a loss, but nothing ventured nothing gained.
Has anyone got any views on what's the 'right stuff'?

Also, as a benchmark, what's this kit like? and is it worth it?http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI....arms=algo=LVI&its=K%2BD%2BC&otn=3&po=Op1&ps=5

Cheers

I don't know much about that enlarger but £250 is a lot of money, you can a decent durst version m600/800 for under a third of that price.

I would probably look at finding an enlarger and then adding the kit to go with , having a quick browse through ebay, I find these are particuarly interesting, and yes the option you are looking at is significantly over priced.

hope this helps

Well you don't need to pay that much for an enlarger Joe, I'm sure you could source one cheaper. However - there looks to be a lot of gear there that comes with the enlarger. It's a bit ambiguous on things like how many trays there are - but if you want to do larger prints, then the larger tray sizes are damned expensive as well as a lot of those other items listed there if you have to source them separately.

I'm not interested in getting back into film processing, but if I was, I'd have to seriously consider that Durst package for the sheer convenience of getting all that kit in one go and not chasing around after it.
